The Iraqi market is currently characterized by a massive demand for reconstruction and modernization. Due to the extreme desert climate with temperatures often exceeding 50°C, the reliance on reflective glass has become a necessity rather than a luxury to reduce HVAC energy consumption in Baghdad and Basra.
Currently, there is a noticeable shift from basic building materials to high-spec technical glass. The industry is seeing a surge in the adoption of tempered laminated glass for security-sensitive government and commercial buildings, where structural integrity and blast resistance are paramount.
Despite the growth, the local supply chain still heavily depends on imports of specialized processed glass. The demand for clear float glass remains steady as a base material, but the value-add is moving toward high-end finishes like acid etched glass for interior partitioning in luxury hotels and offices.
